The Underwood boys' basketball team regained the lead at 43-41 with 6:40 remaining in their game with Rothsay on Monday night and went on to record a 69-58 win in the playin round of the Section 6A Tournament.  Rothsay led 21-16 at the half.

Drew Evavold (24 points) and Hudson Risbrudt (17 points) combined for 31 Underwood points in the game.  Evavold secured 13 rebounds to complete his double-double and Kaleb Hammes added 9 boards.  Cole Peterson added 9 points and Evan Lundgren contributed 8.

"We came out very flat and lacked intensity on both ends of the court," stated Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck.  "Jayden Harig came in and provided a spark tonight, with excellent effort.  I"m proud of the way the guys responded in the second half."

Harig hit a big 3 at the halftime buzzer to cut the Rothsay lead to five points.

Karson Jensen led the Tigers with 16 points.  Preston Curtis and Matthew Danielson were also in double digits with 14 and 13 points, respectively.  Peyton Christensen ended his Rothsay career with 9 points.

“We played hard throughout the game," said Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  "We defended really well in the first half.  It was back and forth the entire way, but we couldn’t get enough stops in the end.  Our coaching staff would like to thank our lone Senior Peyton Christensen, and our entire team for all the efforts and commitment throughout the season.”

Underwood will travel to Henning on Thursday to face the top-seeded Hornets in round two of the 6A playoffs.
