The Ashby Arrows lost a non-conference boys’ basketball game at Frazee on Friday night, falling to the Hornets by the score of 63-52.  After trailing by 12 points midway through the first half, the Arrows managed to reduce the deficit to six at halftime, 29-23.

“We scored on only 3 of our first 22 possessions in the game,” said Head Coach John Holsten of Ashby.  “Patience, confident shot selection, and ball security are necessary for us to avoid the consecutive string of empty trips we are experiencing.”

Three Arrows reached double figures, led by Jake Norby with 15.  Richie Johnson and Easton Nelson each scored 11.  Brodie Ecker and Bradee Christianson added 9 and 6 points, respectively.  Ashby shot 43% (20-46) overall for the game.

Asher Blaine led Frazee with 15 points.  Alex Helmers contributed 12, while Carter Sonnenberg and Zach Longfors had 11 points apiece.

Looking to snap a current losing streak of seven games, the Arrows host the Verndale Pirates Saturday night.
