Warriors Come Alive in Second Half to Hand Otters Their 5th Straight Loss

The Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team played one of their best halves of the season on Monday as they took a 35-33 lead at the break.  A 3-point field goal at the buzzer by John Pecarich brought the Warriors to within two points and they were able to carry the momentum into the second half, scoring 13 of the first 15 points and starting the half on a 28-7 run on the way to an 80-58 victory over the Otters.

Fergus Falls went on a 12-0 run in the first half to build their largest lead of the night at 27-19.  The Otters had only 11 turnovers on the night, but the Warriors had only 5, including just one in the second half.  Brainerd got their offense going in the second half, scoring 47 points.  They also made 13 3-pointers.  Pecarich had a game high 25 points, making 5 3’s, and he grabbed 6 rebounds.  Sawyer Hennessey hit 4 3’s and scored 14 points.  Eli Hoelz finished with 14 points and 7 assists and Nick Evanson contributed 13.

Henry Bethel led the Otters, scoring 12 of his 17 points in the first half.  Ryan Hirst scored 10 points and led the Otters with 6 rebounds.  Bethel and Jaydon Manteufel pulled down 5 rebounds apiece.

Fergus Falls (6-16) has lost five straight games and will travel to Alexandria on Tuesday before returning home to host St. Cloud Tech on Thursday night.
