Hillcrest hosted Ortonville in a girl/boy double header on Monday with the Comet girls’ starting things off with an 83-50 victory over the Trojans. Maddie Ballweg led the Comets effort with 29 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals and 4 assists.
Elsa Retzlaff came off the bench to score 19 points and also had 6 steals. Ella Knutson finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds, Lizzy Olstad added 11 points and Madi Foss had 6 points and 5 rebounds. Stella Moline also chipped in with 5 points.
“This was a good team win for our girls,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “They played hard and used defensive pressure to create some easy buckets on the offensive end. It was a good shooting night for our girls and they shared the ball nicely. Maddie Ballweg led us in scoring with 29. I thought she had a very well-rounded game.”
Ortonville was led by Karyn Gronholz with 15 points.
Hillcrest (15-7, 10-5 LEC) will host Underwood on Tuesday and Battle Lake on Thursday in a pair of Little Eight Conference games.
Ortonville will host KMS on Thursday and will play at Central Minnesota Christian on Friday.
