Brandon-Evansville took control in the second half of their Little Eight Conference boys’ basketball game with Underwood on Friday night in Evansville.  B-E led 26-24 at halftime, but outscored the Rockets 38-23 in the second half to secure a 64-47 victory.  Underwood shot just 29.5% from the field and Brandon-Evansville made 39.3% of their shots, while controlling the boards 41-27.

The Chargers were led by Micah Fuller (18 points, 5 rebounds), Tanner Riedel (17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Dezmond White (16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists).  Brady Perleberg dished out 3 assists and Carter White had a team high 3 steals.

“I thought we played much better tonight as a team,” commented B-E Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “We competed for the whole game and didn't let missed shots affect the rest of what we wanted to do. We ended up making a couple of adjustments at halftime that helped us extend our lead in the second half. Underwood is a very skilled team. They have a lot of players who play the game the right way. They are going to be a very scary team for years to come.”

Kaleb Hammes had a team high 14 points for the Rockets.  Noah Link and Cole Peterson contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.  Peterson also led the team with 5 rebounds.  Drew Evavold had 3 assists.

“Not a lot went right for us tonight,” said Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. “Our energy and intensity were down, which is something we can’t afford to not have. We turned the ball over far too much, and did a poor job of seeing the openings on the court. Our defense had some decent stretches, but we failed to finish with a solid box out, allowing 14 offensive rebounds, which Brandon-Evansville did a great job of capitalizing on. Credit the Chargers, they came with excellent energy tonight, and it definitely showed.”

Underwood (9-10, 6-7 LEC) has a home game against Hancock on Tuesday, a road game at Lake Park Audubon on Thursday and another home game Friday against Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.

Brandon-Evansville (6-13, 4-8 LEC) will host Border West on Tuesday and Park Christian on Friday.
