The Rothsay girls’ basketball team put together a solid 36 minutes on Thursday night as they took a 26-19 halftime lead on the way to a 52-44 victory over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.

“We came out with a lot of energy tonight and maintained the energy throughout,” said Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier.  “Hillcrest is a good shooting team and I thought our girls did a great job of contesting shots at the three-point line and making them put the ball on the floor.  I also credit our fans for creating a great atmosphere in the gym.  It was a fun night of basketball.”

Leaders for Rothsay were Kenadi Carlsrud (18 points, 5 rebounds), Savannah Sullivan (16 points, 5 rebounds), Bethany Danielson (8 points, 4 rebounds) and Madison Tillman (11 rebounds).

“We came out flat and we were never able to flip the switch,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “Rothsay shot the ball well and out hustled us tonight.”

Ella Knutson recorded another double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.  Madi Foss contributed 7 points and 11 rebounds and Elsa Retzlaff added 7 points for the Comets.

Rothsay (12-9, 7-7 LEC) will travel to Parkers Prairie on Tuesday night.

Hillcrest (14-6, 9-5 LEC) has home games Monday against Ortonville, Tuesday against Underwood and Thursday against Battle Lake.
