The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team was overwhelmed by the Border West Buccaneers 76-47 on Tuesday night in Ashby.  The Bucs had all the points they needed by halftime leading 50-22.

Border West shot 47% from the field and scored 27 points off 18 Ashby turnovers.  The Buccaneers were led by Clint Determan with 25 points, 3 assists and 3 steals.  Cole Gilsdorf added 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.  Dylan Bainbridge had a team high 4 assists and Grant Dawson led the Bucs with 4 steals.  Caden Spilde grabbed 5 rebounds.

Kellen Dahlen was the only member of the Arrows to reach double figures netting 12 points.  The Arrows shot 35% (18/52) and 29% (6/21) from behind the three-point line.  Dahlen also led the team in rebounding with 6.  Brodie Ecker and Richie Johnson had 5 boards apiece.  Easton Nelson dished out 6 assists.  Jacob Sorenson made his first career Varsity basket for two points.

“We turned the ball over 13 times in the first half,” reported Ashby Head Coach John Holsten. “The Bucs transition from defense to offense was very impressive.  They grabbed an 11-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game and never looked back.”

It was the third straight loss for the Arrows as they see their overall record fall to 5-11.  They host the West Central Ares Knights Friday.

Border West (15-2, 10-0 LEC) won their twelfth straight game.  They will host Battle Lake on Friday and Breckenridge on Saturday.
