The Battle Lake boys’ basketball team continued their impressive Little Eight Conference season when they handed Brandon-Evansville a 74-52 loss on Friday night on the Battlers home floor.  The win was the ninth in a row for Battle Lake (15-3. 9-1 LEC).

Owen Buehler had a monster game with 25 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals to lead Battle Lake.  Jack Mekalson was also in double digits with 19 points, while adding 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.  Mason Dalluge (7 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 blocks), Drew Johnson (9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists) and Bradyn Roisum (11 points, 3 rebounds) also had key contributions to the win.

"We continue to grow and get better on both ends of the floor,” stated Head Coach Brady Cameron of Battle Lake. “Tonight our defense was great as we held B/E to 27% (16/59) from the floor, forcing 15 TO's which turned into 20 points, and out rebounded them 42-35.  Coach Hintermeister does a great job with his offense and getting shots in the paint for them but tonight our defense did a great job of keeping them out of there only allowing 8 points in the paint.  Offensively, our 3's weren't falling but we took advantage of our height and got good quality looks inside the 3-point line and at the rim which also led to us getting to the line 17 times.  If we continue to play the right way like we did tonight, good things will continue for us.  We have a tough week coming up with a rivalry game with Underwood on Tuesday night, and then we head down to Wheaton to play Border West in a clash of the top 2 teams in the LEC on Friday."

Carter White and Dezmond White each scored 10 points to lead the Chargers.  Micah Fuller added 9, Brady Perleberg had 8 and Tanner Riedel chipped in with 7 points.

“We played really hard and I thought we were disciplined throughout the game,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “I love this team and how much we continue to improve. It doesn't show in the win/loss category, but we can see it every day in practice. We played the right way and respected the game, I will take a team that does that every day.”

Brandon-Evansville (4-12) goes to Rothsay on Tuesday and will host Parkers Prairie on Thursday and Underwood on Friday.
