Sartell senior Arthur Mahowald scored the game winning basket with 1.1 seconds remaining in the game on Friday night, lifting the Sabres to a 53-51 victory over the Otters in Fergus Falls.

Sartell scored the first basket of the game, but Hayden Knick knocked down a 3-point field goal attempt to give the Otters a 3-2 lead.  Sartell then went on a 7 point run to take a 9-3 lead.  The Otters rallied to tie the game at 11-11 and with the two teams even at 20-20, Fergus Falls rattled off 9 straight points and wound up taking a 29-22 halftime lead over the Sabres.

The Otters were holding a 35-25 lead early in the second half when the Sabres went on a 9-point run to cut the lead to 35-34.  Fergus Falls took the lead up to 49-42 with just over 3 minutes to go, however, Sartell scored 9 straight points to gain a 51-49 lead with under 30 seconds to play.  Henry Bethel tied the game with around ten seconds on the clock.  That's when Mahowald took control and drove to the basket for the winning bucket.

Parker Knutson had 19 points to lead the Sabres, making three 3's in the second half.  Mahowald finished with a dozen and Braydon Blonigen had 10.  Sartell took excellent care of the ball with only two second half turnovers and twelve for the game.

Fergus Falls freshman Micah Johnson buried four 3's on the way to a team high 14 points.  Bethel and Ryan Hirst each scored 9 points.  Hirst and Jaydon Manteufel had 7 rebounds apiece and Bethel added 5 rebounds and 3 steals.  Grant Ackerson led the Otters with 4 assists and Erik Hanson had 3.  Fergus Falls committed 15 turnovers in the game.

Fergus Falls (6-12, 4-5 CLC) will play at Rocori next Thursday night.
