Underwood hosted Ashby on Tuesday night in a Little Eight Conference boys’ basketball contest which the Arrows won by the score of 60-55.  Ashby led 31-29 at the half.

Brodie Ecker led all scorers with 21 points.  He was joined in double figures by Bradee Christianson with 13 and Easton Nelson with 10.  Ashby shot 42% (22-52) overall, including 40% (8-20) from behind the 3-point line.  They made 62% of their free throws (8-13), including 5-of-6 at crunch time.

“Despite losing leads of eight points in both halves, the team kept competing and found a way to grind out a victory,” stated Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “Levi Bogenrief and Logan Johnson provided solid contributions off the bench when we got in significant foul trouble in the first half.”

The Rockets were led by 14 points from Cole Peterson and 10 from Hudson RisbrudtOwen Harig and Noah Link each scored 8 and Drew Evavold added 7 points and a team high 8 rebounds.  Gavin Pausch came through with 7 rebounds for the Rockets.

"'Ashby did a great job of taking away the lane from us, very similar to the first time we played them, limited our shooting percentage to 31%," noted Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. "We are struggling to create for each other, again having more turnovers than assists, and we simply aren't communicating to the level we need to on the defensive end. The guy's are giving good effort, which is what we ask of them each and every day."

With the win, the Arrows improve their overall season record to 4-7 and their Little Eight Conference record to 3-5.  Ashby will next host the Hancock Owls on Thursday and the Rothsay Tigers on Friday.

Underwood (6-8, 4-5 LEC) is at Border West on Friday night and will host Sebeka on Monday.
