The Underwood Rockets entertained Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal in a non-conference boys’ basketball game on Thursday night.  The Rockets had a slim 36-34 halftime advantage, however, the Titans took the lead in the second half and held on for a 71-64 road win.  NCE/UH had 16 offensive rebounds and capitalized on 20 Underwood turnovers in the game.

Aidan Flaten led the Titans with 36 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 deflections and a pair of steals.  Cole Bentley was also in double digits with 14 points.  He had 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

The Rockets were led by 17 points and 9 rebounds from Drew EvavoldEvan Lundgren added 15 points and Hudson Risbrudt finished with 14 points and 3 assists.  Kaleb Hammes distributed 4 assists, secured 4 rebounds and added 6 points and Cole Peterson contributed 7 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and 4 deflections, along with 4 points.

“This was a tough game for us,” acknowledged Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. “While our energy was better than previous, we simply didn’t do the small things right. We didn’t box out well, especially in the first half, leading to way too many second chance points. We didn’t handle the ball well either, especially down the stretch. We had 7 point leads multiple times throughout the second half, and just weren’t able to pull away. Down the stretch, we turned the ball over, and lost players on defense, which hasn’t been typical of us this season. We will come back better next week, and learn from this one.”

Underwood (6-7) will host Ashby on Tuesday night and travel to Wheaton for a game against Border West next Friday.
