Rocket Boys Win Overtime Shootout in Hancock

Underwood traveled to Hancock for a Little Eight Conference boys’ basketball contest on Friday night.  The game turned into a shootout with the Rockets winning 88-87 in overtime.  The game was tied 33-33 at the half and 76-76 at the end of regulation.

Underwood shot the ball at a 53% clip (33-62) with Evan Lundgren scoring a game high 32 points on 12-of-13 shooting.  Hudson Risbrudt and Drew Evavold were also in double digits with 21 and 19 points, respectively.  Lundgren dished out 4 assists, Evavold had 9 rebounds and 3 assists, and Cole Peterson had 5 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.  The Rockets hit 52% from the field.

“This was a great and exciting game to be a part of,” said Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. “We played hard for 41 minutes tonight. I’m proud of how the guys are handling adversity and moving onto the next play.  This was an excellent win for us tonight. The guys are working hard and improving every chance they get. A complete team effort every tonight!”

Hancock was led by 26 points from Chase Evink and 25 from Hudson VerSteegJared Koehl added 16 and Brayden Kisgen contributed 14.  Evink finished a double-double with 17 rebounds and VerSteeg had 11 boards to complete his double-double.  Jackson Koehl added 9 rebounds and 6 assists.  Rylan Meierding had a team high 8 assists for the Owls.

Underwood (6-5) will play at Hillcrest on Tuesday.

Hancock (4-4) will be at home to Border West on Monday.
