Border West hit 50% (31-62) of their field goal attempts on Thursday night as the Buccaneers posted a 79-38 win over Brandon-Evansville in a Little Eight Conference boys’ basketball game in Wheaton.  Border West led 49-23 at the half and won the rebounding battle 36-19, holding B-E without an offensive board.  The Buccaneers also limited their turnovers to 6, while forcing 22 turnovers by the Chargers, who shot just 33% on the night.

Clint Determan (16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) and Dylan Bainbridge (14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals) were each in double figures for Border West.  Derek Lupkes added 7 points, Cole Gilsdorf had 7 points, 3 assists and 4 steals, and Andrew Walker finished with 6 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and a blocked shot.  Brayden Holte came away with 4 steals.

“Border West is a very athletic and skilled basketball team,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “They get to the rim and do a great job using their length and athleticism in all aspects of the game. We didn't lose due to lack of effort, I appreciate all of our player's work ethic. We just need to be smarter on both ends of the floor and take better care of the basketball.”

B-E was led by Micah Fuller and Riley Perleberg with 8 and 7 points, respectively.

Border West (7-2) has won four straight games heading into a Monday contest at Hancock.

Brandon-Evansville (2-6) will host West Central Area on Monday night in Evansville.
