The Underwood boys’ basketball team held a six-point lead at halftime and maintained that lead through the second half as they registered a 63-57 Little Eight Conference win over Brandon-Evansville on the Rockets home floor.  Underwood stretched their lead to 15 in the second half before the Chargers went on a run to put the final margin at 6 points.

Hudson Risbrudt led Underwood with 18 points, while Drew Evavold finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds.  Evan Lundgren had a great all-around game for the Rockets with 12 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds.  Cole Peterson added 12 points and Gavin Pausch dished out 5 assists.

“We played one of our more complete and consistent games of the year, which was needed after our last three games,” stated Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck.  “This was a nice way to end our 4 straight game streak.  We need to bring this type of energy to every game, and carry it throughout the entire 36 minutes.”

“Underwood played really hard and shot the ball really well,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “We didn't do a good job scrapping for rebounds and doing the special teams stuff. Give Underwood credit, they deserved to win the game.”

The Chargers were led by Dezmond White (27 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists) and Micah Fuller (19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals).  They shot 42.3% (22-52) from the field and were beaten on the boards 33-22.

Underwood (5-5) will play at Hancock on Friday.

Brandon-Evansville (2-5) will play Border West in Graceville on Thursday night.
