The Ashby Boys Basketball Team was defeated by the Border West Buccaneers 70-50 on Thursday night.  The Bucs held a commanding 42-23 lead at halftime.

Jake Norby was the only Arrow to reach double figures and was the game's leading scorer netting 16 points.  Bradee Christianson and Kellen Dahlen each chipped in 9 points.  Dahlen was the leading Arrow rebounder grabbing 14 of their total 33 boards.  Brodie Ecker dished out a team high 6 assists.

Ashby shot a respectable 51% (21/41) from the field including 44% (7/16) from behind the three-point line.

“We struggled to effectively attack their pressure defense from the start as the Bucs took a 17-3 lead,” stated Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “They finished the half with another scoring spurt putting the game out of reach.  They guard very well and share the ball on offense.  They are a very skilled team.”

Border West hit 50% (29-58) from the field and recorded 23 assists on the night.  They were led by Clint Determan (14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals), Dylan Bainbridge (13 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals), Cole Gilsdorf (12 points) and Andrew Walker (10 points, 5 assists, 3 steals).

The Arrows season record falls to 1-3 in the Little Eight Conference and 2-4 overall.  The Arrows travel to Battle Lake next Thursday.

Border West (4-2) will play at Underwood on Friday night.
