The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team hosted Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Thursday night and placed four players in double figures on the way to a 54-50 victory.  “On a night where we just couldn’t find any sort of rhythm, the girls found a way to get it done,” commented Head Coach Hannah Clark of the Comets.  “We seemed a step slow on both ends of the floor, but the girls showed mental toughness and got stops when they needed stops and they hit big showts when we needed a basket.”

Ella Knutson (12 points, 6 rebounds), Ruby Peterson (12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals), Madi Foss (11 points, 15 rebounds, 5 blocks) and Maddie Ballweg (10 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals) were all in double figures.  Lizzy Olstad added 9 points.

“Ella did an outstanding job guarding their start player, Jess Moberg, holding her to 12 points,” noted Clark.  “I was pleased with how balanced our scoring was.  It was great to see Madi and Maddie each record a double-double.”

Grace Cardwell was the leading scorer for CGB with 14.

Hillcrest (7-2) play at Parkers Prairie on Friday night.

CGB (5-2) plays the Panthers on Tuesday night in Graceville.
