The Underwood boys’ basketball team traveled to Moorhead on Tuesday night for a matchup with the Park Christian Falcons.  The Rockets held the lead the entire game, never trailing, but never up by more than 7 points.  When the dust settled, the Rockets returned home with a 61-58 victory.

With a 3-point lead and 16 seconds to go, Hudson Risbrudt stepped to the free throw line and made both shots.  Park Christian was able to hit a quick three, closing the gap to two points.  After a time out, Drew Evavold was fouled on the inbounds play and made the second of two free throws for a 3-point lead with 7 seconds on the clock.  Underwood was able to hold the Falcons for the final seconds, securing the win.

“We played well tonight, and although we didn’t shoot the ball as good as we are capable, we still found a way to win the game,” reported Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck.  “Our free throws tonight were a big improvement as we went 17-for-23 from the line.  We had excellent minutes from guys with some foul trouble again.  Seniors Jayden Harig and Jack Parker were excellent for us.”

Evavold finished with 20 points and 3 assists, Cole Peterson had 6 points and 11 rebounds, Risburdt had 10 points, Kaleb Hammes contributed 8 points and 5 assists, and Noah Link wound up with 8 points and a pair of rebounds.  Hammes and Link added 3 steals apiece, and Evan Lundgren had a great defensive game with 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 deflections.

Underwood (4-2) will go to Battle Lake for a Little Eight Conference contest on Thursday and will host Border West on Friday night.  The Rockets will play four games in a span of six days beginning with their game in Battle Lake.
