The Worthington Trojans won the boys’ title in the AmericInn Country Inn and Suites Holiday Basketball Tournament on Thursday night with a 51-41 victory over the Fergus Falls Otters. Worthington led by as many as fifteen points in the game.
Fergus Falls took good care of the ball as they had only 9 turnovers. No Otters were in double digits as Ryan Hirst finished with a team high 9 points and Levi King contributed 8.
Worthington had three players in double figures, led by Kaleb Nothe with 16 points. Jacari Swinea scored 11 points and Nono Opiew had 10 points. The Trojans made 19-of-27 free throws.
Fergus Falls (4-3) will resume play at Sauk Rapids-Rice on Friday, January 6.
