Pelican Rapids led 36-28 at the half Wednesday and pulled away for a 74-49 win over New York Mills on Wednesday at the Minnesota National Bank Holiday Classic.  With the win, the Vikings advance to face West Central Area for the Boys’ Division title on Thursday night at 7:45pm.  New York Mills will face Battle Lake in the 3rd place game at 2:30pm.

Ian Fahje scored 15 points to lead four Vikings in double digits.  Charlie Larson had 13, while Tanner Tollerud and Luke Sjolie added 10 points apiece.

“It was a little bit ragged tonight after a long layoff from our last game,” commented Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud.  “We were able to build a nice lead in the first half, but New York Mills came back and cut it to single digits at halftime.  We stretched the lead back out in the second half as we were more solid and disciplined on the defensive end.”

Sam Kopveiler and Hunter Holtti led the Eagles with 11 points each.

Pelican Rapids is now 6-1 and New York Mills is winless in 7 games.
