Ian Fahje (17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocked shots) and Charlie Larson (14 points, 5 rebounds) reached double figures on Saturday night at Concordia College in Moorhead, leading the Pelican Rapids boys’ basketball team to a 44-41 victory over the Fergus Falls Otters.  The win leaves the Vikings unbeaten through five games and the loss is the first in four games for the Otters.

Pelican Rapids shot 38% (16-42) from the field and held a slim 34-31 edge on the boards.  Luke Sjolie pulled down 6 rebounds and Brady Petznick added 5 points and a pair of blocks.

"It definitely wasn't a pretty game, but we were able to come away with a hard fought victory tonight at Concordia," stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud.  "We struggled getting good looks at the basket in the first half against their pressure defense, but were able to get some better spacing in the second half and hit some shots.  Defensively, we played solid and had a nice stretch in the second half where we strung together some stops to eventually take a lead."

Fergus Falls sophomore Henry Bethel led all scorers in the game with 19 points.  He also had 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals.  Levi King chipped in with 8 points and Josh Sternberg had a team high 8 rebounds, while also leading the team with 3 assists.  The Otters shot 30% (16-53) from the floor.  Their 3-point attempt at the buzzer fell short.

The Otters will travel to Brainerd for a Central Lakes Conference contest on Tuesday night, while Pelican Rapids has a Heart O’ Lakes road game against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.
