Underwood traveled to Ashby for a Little Eight Conference boys’ basketball contest on Friday and the Rockets won a low scoring game, 30-24.  The Rockets held the Arrows to just 11 first half points as they took a 19-11 lead at halftime.

Underwood was led by Drew Evavold with 8 points and Hudson Risbrudt with 5 points.

“It wasn’t a pretty game for us tonight as we didn’t shoot well and Ashby did a great job closing down the lane and covering shooters,” noted Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck.  “I’m proud of our defensive effort and rebounding, limiting Ashby second chance opportunities.”

Ashby shot just 27% (11-41) from the floor, missing all 14 of their attempts from 3-point range.  Jake Norby was the only player to reach double figures, scoring 12 of the Arrows 24 points.  Brodie Ecker was the leading rebounder for Ashby with 9.

“It seemed as though the Rockets got control of most of the fifty-fifty balls,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “That really made it difficult to go on any scoring run.  It was our first game without starting point guard Easton Nelson.  Easton is facing season ending knee surgery this week.  Roles have changed for the Arrows, and it will take some time for our guys to get comfortable with them.”

The Rockets (2-1) home opener is Tuesday against Rothsay.

Ashby (2-2) has a Monday home game with Hillcrest.
