Fergus Falls and Rocori were both unbeaten as they entered their Central Lakes Conference boys’ basketball tilt on Friday night at the Kennedy Secondary School in Fergus Falls.  The two teams had quite a battle with the Spartans taking a 34-30 halftime lead after overcoming an early 12-1 deficit, and the Otters went on a ten point run to take a 51-48 lead with under six minutes remaining in the game as they went on to record a 61-56 victory.

“This was a good win for our team,” commented Head Coach Matt Johnson of the Otters.  “Rocori was really good defensively.  They made it difficult to move the ball.  We battled well and I thought wore them down a bit.  It was fun to see so many kids contribute.”

Jaydon Manteufel (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Grant Ackerson (10 points) were the leading scorers for the Otters.  Josh Sternberg led the team in rebounds with 9 and assists with 4.  Levi King added 9 points and a pair of blocked shots, Henry Bethel contributed 8 points and Ryan Hirst chipped in 7 points.

Andy Pedroza led Rocori with 17 points.  Jack Spanier joined him in double digits with 11 points, while adding 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Fergus Falls (3-0) will face Pelican Rapids at 7:45pm Saturday at Concordia College in Moorhead.
