The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team featured a balanced attack on Thursday night as five players scored 9 or more points in the Comets 67-43 victory over Brandon-Evansville.  Maddie Ballweg led the way with 18 points, including a 10-for-10 performance at the free throw line.

Ballweg was joined in double digits by Ruby Peterson who had 14 points and added 4 assists, and Elsa Retzlaff with 11 points.  Madi Foss contributed 9 points and 9 rebounds and Ella Knutson finished with 9 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists.  Lizzy Olstad chipped in with 4 points and 5 boards.

“We moved the ball well on offense which led to good, quality shots,” noted Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “It is great to have balanced scoring like we did tonight.  Madison Ballweg led us in scoring but we had multiple girls in double digits.  I thought Ruby Peterson did a nice job directing our team.  She is the engine on our team and the rest of our girls really follow her direction and energy.  We have a few things to clean up on the defensive end, but overall I was pleased with how we played tonight.”

Hillcrest (2-1) will host Ashby on Tuesday night, while Brandon-Evansville (0-4) travels to Browerville.
