Fergus Falls buried 20-of-28 free throws on the night, including 16-of-20 in the second half as they recorded their second win of the season, earning a 50-46 road victory over St. Cloud Apollo.  The Otters held a slim 21-18 halftime lead, but scored the first 15 points of the second half to build that lead to 18.

Trailing 45-32 with four minutes to play in the game, Apollo went on an 11 point run to trim the lead to 45-43 with 1:15 remaining.  Isaiah Washington scored the first 10 points of that run and ended up as the top scorer in the game with 23 points, including five 3-point field goals.

Josh Sternberg scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Fergus Falls, making all 11 of his free throw opportunities.  He was joined in double figures by Henry Bethel with 10 points.  Bethel also snared 10 boards, leaving him and Sternberg with double-doubles for the night.  Bethel also had a team high 4 assists.  Jaydon Manteufel added 7 points and 8 rebounds.

“We held on and got to learn some valuable lessons,” said Head Coach Matt Johnson.  “Feels much better learning with a win!  We had a really solid 32 minutes, but the last four weren’t pretty.  It was great to see Josh Sternberg play well and be a leader for us.  I thought defensively and rebounding we were really solid, and we will continue to work and grow offensively.”

Fergus Falls (2-0, 1-0 CLC) will host the Rocori Spartans in another conference contest on Friday, December 16.
