Upsala shot 54% (27-50) overall and nailed 47% (8-17) of their three-point tries on Tuesday night as they pulled out a 66-65 win over Brandon-Evansville in high school boys’ basketball.  B-E shot 44.6% (25-56) and 34% (11-32) from 3-point land.

“I thought we played hard last night, but poorly defensively,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “We seemed to think we could just outscore them, and that clearly wasn't correct. We knew we had big shoes to fill coming into this season, and we now have proof of how much we need to grow defensively. Offensively we shot the ball well in spurts but rushed into our offense too often. Practice will consist of more fundamental work and breaking down what we are going to need to improve on in order to compete with the teams in our section. Upsala deserves credit for taking advantage of our weaknesses and shooting the lights out.”

The Chargers were led by Dezmond White (23 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals), Micah Fuller (20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal) and Tanner Riedel (11 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds).  Brady Perleberg and Riley Perleberg each dished out 5 assists in the game.

Leaders for Upsala were Jack Primus (30 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals) and Aden Warga (13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists).

Next up for Brandon-Evansville is a Little Eight Conference road game at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls on Thursday.
