Knights Dominate Second Half to Beat Wadena-Deer Creek

The West Central Area Knights led 33-23 at the half vs Wadena-Deer Creek and then came out and dominated the second half with a 31-11 start building a 64-34 lead enroute to a 74-47 victory.  

"Our depth wore them down.  We tried to push the pace and keep putting fresh guys in and we just mentally wore them down.  We played hard and had many guys contribute to a team win again," said Knights Coach Kraig Hunter.

The Knights made 34-66 shots for 49% including draining seven 3's.  The Wolverines hit 20-49 for 41% and made five 3's.  The Knights had 40 rebounds to 29 for the Wolverines. The biggest difference in the game is how well the Knights took care of the ball with only 8 turnovers while their defense turned the Wolverines over 19 times.

Jacob Strunk led the Knights with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists. Cole Anderson added 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals and Bryce Kjesbo was also in double figures with 13 points, while grabbing 6 rebounds and getting 3 steals.  Mitch Dewey added 8 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Ben Bye had 7 points, 3 rebounds and an assist.  Rounding out the scoring for the Knights were Roman Mihailovschi 3, Nasir Dotts 2, Cash Nelson 2, Damon Sanstead 2, and Sam Hanson 2.  Mihailovschi added 2 steals and Sanstead and Brett Amundson each had 3 rebounds.

Scoring for Wadena-Deer Creek were Peyton Church 10, Kobe Snyder 10, Teshome Loer 9, Nathaniel Peterson 8, Phillip Ross 4, Lyrek Haug 2, Isaac Hamann 2, and Simon Kreklau 2.
