The Henning boys’ basketball team played Staples-Motley at Target Center on Saturday and the Hornets came out on top, 69-47.  “We had a great team experience at Target Center,” said Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades.  “We came away with a nice victory over an athletic Staples-Motley team in the afternoon and finished the day watching the Wolves games as a group on Saturday night.”

Henning made 45% (27-60) of their field goal attempts and connected on 50% (5-10) of their three-pointers.  They had 33 rebounds on the day.  Individual leaders were Mason Hammer (29 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists), Tyson Misegades (14 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal) and Kale Misegades (13 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals).

“Our game didn’t have a lot of flow as it was extremely physical and neither team could get into a rhythm offensively,” commented Coach Misegades. “We stretched the lead to a nice margin before half, but then the Cardinals made a spurt to close the gap midway through the second half. After settling down, we handled our business to come away with a win.”

Staples-Motley was led by Isaiah Schultz (11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block) and Alex Schultz (10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block).  Dakota Hennagir added 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.  The Cardinals shot 35% (20-56) from the field and had 33 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards.

“We want to thank the Timberwolves and Matt Bare for hosting us and also thank Staples-Motley for making the trip and allowing the kids to experience something so exciting,” concluded Coach Misegades.
