The Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team enters the season looking to improve on their 10-18 record of a year ago.  Head Coach Matt Johnson is in his eighth year and is being assisted by Dan Sternberg (Varsity Assistant), Ryan Johnson (JV), Nick Kuehl (9th Grade) and Keith Pearson (Assistant).

Returning letter winners include seniors Grant Ackerson, Erik Hanson, Alex Jensen, Jaydon Manteufel and Josh Sternberg, juniors Brandon Anderson and Hayden Knick, and sophomore Henry Bethel.

Senior Kaden Harstad, junior Ryan Formo, sophomores Alex Ellison, Ryan Hirst and Levi King, and freshman Micah Johnson will all be battling for varsity minutes.

“We are hoping to build off a strong off season,” said Coach Johnson.  “Our kids have invested a lot of time and effort into their improvement.  It is a competitive group of kids who enjoy competing, and are willing to do the work required to be a successful team.  We have solid depth, and will hopefully be able to utilize that throughout the season.”

Johnson says Alexandria, St. Cloud Tech and Brainerd are the favorites in the Central Lakes Conference.  He also sees Perham, Pelican Rapids, DGF, Hawley and Thief River Falls as the teams to beat in Section 8AA.
