Wheaton/Herman-Norcross and Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley have combined their forces for the upcoming high school boys’ basketball season with Jordon Roos manning the helm in his fifth year as a varsity head coach.  Rick Gilsdorf will serve as varsity assistant, Derek Guse in handing the JV team and Taylor Hento will be working with the C Team.

“Obviously, the teams combining is new, which is exciting,” said Coach Roos.  “Having Grant Dawson back from injury and having Bryant Callenius back from a year off from basketball is also very exciting.  Our biggest strengths are our speed, athleticism, depth, and IQ.  We have a lot of very athletic players and plan on being a fast paced team and tough to play against.  We have a ton of upperclassmen and their IQ and basketball knowledge is really phenomenal for high school athletes.  One weakness we would have is probably our lack of size, but our players are very gritty and make up for it.”

Returning starters from Wheaton/Herman-Norcross include seniors Dylan Bainbridge (G), Clint Determan (F), Brayden Hofer (G), Andrew Walker (G) and Dawson (G, started 2 years ago).  Senior Cole Gilsdorf (F) was a starter for CGB last season.

Other returning letter winners are seniors Brayden Hormann (G), Caden Spilde (F), Derek Lupkes (G) and Nathan Johnson (F), junior Nolan Wilson (G) and sophomores Holden Rinke (G) and Kyle Kremer (F) from Wheaton/Herman-Norcross, and seniors Joe Arens (G) and Parker Tritz (C) and sophomore Gunnar Hoffman (F) from C-G-B.

Roos says BBE, KMS, Henning, Hillcrest and Battle Lake are his picks to battle for the Section 6A title, with Hillcrest, Battle Lake and Hancock the favorites in the Little Eight Conference.
