Wadena-Deer Creek won the Park Region Conference girls’ Cross Country meet on Tuesday in Menahga with 29 points.  United North Central was second with 65 points.  They were followed by Ottertail Central (87), New York Mills (99), Pillager (105), Ashby-Brandon-Evansville (145) and Pine River-Backus (180).

Lauren Thoennes, Hope Rovang, and Lexi Bitzan were all given the option to run Varsity or Junior High at the meet,” stated Ashby-Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Robert Bosma. “All three of them would have placed in the Junior High race and possibly w0n (depending on their race). However, they all decided to meet the challenge of running varsity with the expectation of running at Sections next week. All three of them had great races. Lexi, Hope, and Naomi Fournier ran a solid pack throughout the race and fed off each other. They are running very strong right now and I'm excited for what may happen next week.  For the girls' team scores, it was uncertain where they would end up as we have only run a full team a couple meets. WDC was definitely going to win, but it was uncertain with who would follow. I was happy with the placement of the girls' team as they worked hard for their score.”
