The Hillcrest volleyball team improved their season record to 18-1 following a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-14) victory over Lake Park-Audubon on Monday night. “All three of our squads won their matches against LPA,” reported Head Coach Debi Foss. “It’s rewarding to watch the progress of our teams all season and then to finish with some strong, well-rounded play just puts the icing on the cake.”
Leaders for the Comets were Hope Adams (9 service points, 1 ace, 5 kills, 2 digs), Madi Foss (5 service points, 1 ace, 9 kills, 16 digs), Maddie Ballweg (8 serving points, 3 aces, 17 digs), Anna Brumfield (4 service points, 1 ace, 9 kills, 12 digs), Ella Knutson (8 kills, 4 digs, 2 block kills), Emily Adams (6 service points, 10/10 serving, 1 ace, 5 kills, 9 digs, 1 block kill) and Ruby Peterson (35 set assists, 8 digs, 15 service points, 1 ace, 19/20 serving).
“Our varsity girls had some very solid play and attacked the ball effectively,” said Coach Foss. “The Raiders were scrappy and dug up a lot of our balls. The moments that were not so great are always a work in progress and a lesson learned for a future match. As we wrap up week 10 and head into the MEA Tournament at Kennedy High on Thursday, our focus will be on getting read for the post season.”
