Hillcrest recorded a 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-20) Little Eight Conference Volleyball road win over Underwood on Tuesday night.  “Hillcrest came to play tonight,” said Underwood Head Coach Breck Grove.  “They played together and had a great match from start to finish.  We played point for point during the first set, but lost at the end and never really got anything going again.”

Underwood was led by Liz Lukken (8 kills, 11/12 serving, 1 ace, 15 digs), Kallyn Grove (11 digs, 1 block, 7 kills, 15 set assists, 9/9 serving), Jorja Gabrielson (7 kills, 2 blocks) and Becca Johnson (11 digs).

The gym was full tonight on both sides of the court,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Debi Foss. “The pink accents in the crowd as well as on the Rocket side of the court was purposeful as they celebrated their Cancer Awareness Night!”

The Comets were led by Hope Adams (8 service points, 15/15 serving, 12 kills, 3 digs, 3 block kills), Madi Foss (6 service points, 11/11 serving, 1 ace, 11 kills, 6 digs, 2 block kills), Maddie Ballweg (21 digs), Anna Brumfield (9 service points, 4 kills, 14 digs), Ella Knutson (7 kills, 5 digs, 2 block kills), Emily Adams (9 service points, 2 aces, 10 kills, 19 digs) and Ruby Peterson (41 set assists, 13 digs, 8 service points, 13/13 serving).

“The first set was pretty much point for point all the way tied at four different times during the set,” recalled Foss. “We came out strong in the second set and took an early 5-0 lead. The momentum stayed with us during the entire set as we became more efficient with our hitting. We battled once again in the third set but the girls kept working together to get the “W”.  We knew tonight would be a competitive and exciting game.  I’m so proud of the team effort tonight and for the way, each of the girls used their gifts toward team goals. Stewards of the unique talents that God has given each of them.  We will have our final conference matchup on Thursday in Battle Lake.”
