The Fergus Falls Boys’ cross country team traveled to Perham to compete with 30 teams from around the state on Thursday in the Perham Invitational. “Every single boy today shined and put out their best of the season,” commented Head Coach Derek Meyer of the Otters. “They all ran their fastest time of the season. It is always exciting to listen to the kids in awe of how they performed. This meet has a fun tradition of gifting athletes that place in the top 15 individuals with a cupcake. We had several receive that honor.”

The Fergus Falls varsity boys had a great team performance, placing 6th overall with 175 points.  Perham won with 56 points, Lakeville South was runner-up with 88, Park Rapids was third with 92, followed by Bemidji with 156, Moorhead with 166 and then Fergus Falls.

The Otters were led by Jaden Miller who placed 10th overall with a personal best time of 16:21. “This time puts him as the fastest Otter in history,” noted Coach Meyer. “This is so exciting, Jaden put together a wonderful race. I am so proud of how he ran today. His teammates excelled as well with their efforts.”

Henry Greenagel placed 30th, Matthew Tuel placed 34th, David Ronnevik placed 50th, Logan Bredenberg placed 51st, Michael Schmidt placed 55th and Tommy Erickson placed 64th. This is one of the fastest teams in Otter history as well. Henry has joined Jaden and Matthew with being in the top 15.

The junior high boys set the tone for the day, putting 5 boys in the top 15 to reach the podium in the Junior High race. Nolan Felstul placed 2nd overall, Ethan Strande placed 6th, Kadyn Zender placed 11th, Brody Nelson placed 12th and Jaden Kwapinski placed 15th. “These boys did an excellent job today and the future looks very bright of Otter Cross Country,” added Meyer.
