Wellman Leads Otter Girls with 15th Place Finish at Rocori CC Invite

Cassie Wellman led the Fergus Falls girls’ cross country team Thursday at Rocori with a 15th place finish (20:19.7), putting her right in the mix with the top Section and Central Lakes Conference athletes.  Lauren Eilers of Willmar was the individual winner with a time of 19:04.1.  Willmar won the team title with 49 points and Alexandria was second with 51.  Fergus Falls came in sixth with a score of 150.  Eleven full teams competed in the event.

Naomi Dummer and Sarah Grotberg again ran tight together coming in 2 and 3 for our scoring runners,” reported Head Coach Niki Welde of the Otters.  “Savannah Lee continues to improve closing the gap to Sarah and Naomi.  This is so fun to watch as the team comes together and finds success as a group.  Senior Becca Schindler posted an excellent season best to bring in the scoring 5th spot.”
