Alexandria (87), Staples-Motley (93) and Perham (111) finished 1-2-3 at the Lucky Lindy Girls Cross Country Meet on Thursday in Little Falls.  Fergus Falls scored 285 points and finished ninth out of the 18 complete teams competing in the event.  Full results can be found at https://gtraxc.com/pages/results/results.asp?meet_id=1088

“We had a very successful meet tonight,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde.  “Every single runner had a season best.  Cassie Wellman placed 16th overall running a season best by 50 seconds.  She is running stronger each race.  When you watch her race in this competition it's easy to forget she is a young runner.  Sarah Grotberg and Naomi Dummer came in next for the Otters running neck and neck.  These 2 are paired up so well.  They support each other and push the pace.  It can be so important to have the support of a teammate during the tough parts of a race.  Savannah Lee dropped over a minute from her last race.  Being new to cross country, she is figuring this game out quickly.  Senior leader Becca Schindler ran an excellent one minute season best.  Julia Anderson and Hannah Scharnberg both had strong finishes rounding out our varsity 7.”

Sonja Lahti led the Otters JV team with another season best time.  Violet McConn placed 7th overall in the Junior High Division, earning a ribbon with a season best time.
