Both teams battled early in the first half with the Comets creating several scoring opportunities. The Crusaders scored with eight minutes remaining in the half, on a pass up the middle, splitting the Comet defense, leaving Senior Captain, Cole Peterson, alone in net in a one on one situation. The Crusaders scored twice in the second half.
The Comets had six shots on goal compared to Cathedral’s 13.
“The Comets were tested against a tough, fast, physical, team in this contest,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Rod Jensen. “We were wore down during the game due to the Crusaders physicality, which we fully expected. Overall it was a good teaching experience for our team as a whole, understanding firsthand the level of competition in our section.”
The Comets, now 2-2, take on the East Grand Forks Green Wave, at 4:30pm Monday, at home.
