Dave Weinrich is in his second season leading the Hillcrest baseball team and he is optimistic that his team can make improvements from last season when they finished 1-11.  “Our win over St. John’s Prep last season was the first for the program in five season, so that was fun for the kids,” said Weinrich.  “Our senior catcher had played varsity baseball since 8th grade and got his first win!  Our goals for this season are to compete in every game, eliminate mistakes and win more games!”

Returning players include Zayne Weinrich (CF), Evan Lindgren (SS/P), Micah Bermel (P/1B) and Nate Bermel (P/2B).

“Zayne was honorable mention All-Conference last season and hit .407 for the Comets,” reported Coach Weinrich.  “We will lean on Zayne and Evan, who was also honorable mention All-Conference with a .430 batting average.”

The Comets will also be counting on Leo Nordick (P/1B), Ethan Swedberg (SS/2B/P), Griffin Haus (C), Jack Vickness (3B) and Daniel Reisch (2B/OF) to assume varsity roles.

“I expect us to be much improved with a good group of younger players,” added Weinrich.  “I am excited to see the improvements and we have a great group of kids that I’m looking forward to working with.”

Jeremy Forrester will serve as Assistant Coach for the Comets.
