As the Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Track and Field Teams begin their spring season, Head Coach Allen Aase feels that his experienced group of returning seniors will make for a very competitive season in Section 6A. Aase will be assisted by Jessica Knutson (Distance), Patti Zwiers (Throwers), Jenny Mathieson (Hurdles), Rod Garvin (Long Jump), Andrew Reistenberg (Triple Jump) and Pete Draxten (Sprinters).
Returning seniors include Caden Fischer (100, 200), Gavin Knutson (Shot, Discus) and Chantelle Ufundu (Shot, Discus). Another senior, Luc Senga, is out for the first time and will be competing in the 100 and 200 meter dash events.
Other returning varsity athletes are junior Jiun Moon (1600), sophomores Matthew Knutson (800, 1600, Long Jump) and Gabe Swedenberg (800, 1600), and freshman Katie Holzner (800, 1600).
New to the varsity this year are Emma Borlaug, Serina Dortkas, Miriam Knutsen and Cohen Draxten.
“We will have a small varsity team, but the future looks bright with a large Junior High program with lots of potential,” said Coach Aase.
