The Battle Lake boys’ basketball team traveled to Graceville Monday where they recorded a 65-37 road win over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley. It was a good defensive battle in the 1st half with the Battlers going into the locker room with the 24-21 advantage.

Drew Johnson’s 9 points led the Battlers in the first half. “His shot selection was great and he hit some timely looks late in possessions,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach Randy Dorn. Johnson finished with 13 points.

Cole Gilsdorf hit a 3 to start the second half to tie the game right out of the gate but the Battlers responded well and finished strong.

Jack Mekalson had a strong second half for the Battlers scoring 12 of his 16 in that half. Noah Mansker did a great job attacking the basket finishing with 15. Mason Dalluge finished with 5 points and played exceptional defense all night. “The effort displayed in the second half is what we will need to play with to compete here on out,” noted Coach Dorn.

The Battlers travel to Barrett Tuesday to take on West Central Area.
