Brandon-Evansville hosted Ashby in a Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball game on Friday night.  The Chargers emerged victorious with a 54-17 win over the lady Arrows.

“It was a great effort tonight honoring our 3 seniors Olivia Otto, Kaytlyn Pattrin and Kiley Lund,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zachary Traphagen. “Really proud of the girls defensive effort and with the high amount of energy they played with all game long. It was the perfect environment for a high school basketball game. Packed house, rivalry game, senior night on a Friday night for the season finale. Now we get some much needed rest and practices in before we start section play next week.”

Brandon-Evansville was led by Hadley Baune (14 points, 3 steals), Olivia Otto (11 points, 5 steals, 2 assists, 2 rebounds) and Sydney Schaefer (7 points, 4 steals).  Kaytlyn Pattrin led the team with 5 rebounds and 3 assists, to go along with 3 steals.  B-E shot 39% (20-51) for the night.

Brandon-Evansville ends the regular season with a record of 11 wins and 14 losses.

“The Arrows found themselves in early foul trouble which led to the Chargers taking full advantage of their inside game with the Finkelson sisters both on the bench,” stated Ashby Head Coach Brenda Johnson. “Without BrookeLinn and Chloe in the paint our rebounding and post defense is definitely at a disadvantage. I give this group of young ladies so much credit for doing their best to be resilient when they were double teamed, pressed, and hounded the whole game by the Chargers defensively.”

Celi Nelson finished the night with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. BrookeLinn Finkelson despite the time she was in foul trouble had 2 points, 2 blocks, and a steal, little sister Chloe Finkelson was the leading rebounder for the Arrows with 7 she also had 2 points. Marisa Ludwig had 3 boards and a steal, Ivy Aufdenkamp had 3 boards and 1 steal, and Lucy Ohren finished the night with 3 rebounds and a steal. Unofficially the Chargers caused the Arrows to have 26 turnovers.

“Not many points were put on the board by the Arrows tonight and I have to give credit to the Chargers defense and ability to score when they had the ball,” mentioned Coach Johnson. “The basketball season is long and grueling. Our players were called upon from the beginning to do and play with intensity and grit on varsity when they should've had the opportunity to develop and grow fundamentally on the JV preparing them for the next level.  It was our lone senior's last game of the regular season. Celi Nelson has shown up time and time again to lead this team to the best of her ability.  I can't say enough about this team as they played hard every night not for themselves, but for the team. They play so unselfish and game after game wanting most for their team.”

The Arrows will start play-offs on Monday with a road game  in the pigtail game of Section 6A South at 7:00PM.
