The Rothsay girls’ basketball team led 38-12 at the half of their Little Eight Conference contest with Ashby on Thursday night.  The Tigers went on to post a 67-34 win over the Arrows.

“Our girls played a good basketball game tonight,” said Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier.  “I thought we passed the ball well and created open looks for teammates.  Everyone contributed on offense as all twelve players scored for us.  It’s fun to see things really come together for us as a team.”

Kenadi Carlsrud led Rothsay with 20 points and Savannah Sullivan joined her in double figures with a dozen.  Summer Wigdahl chipped in with 9.  Chase Balken and Bethany Danielson added 5 points each.

“The Tigers couldn't miss tonight,” said Ashby Head Coach Brenda Johnson. “We tried 3 different defenses and were unable to stop the Tigers from scoring. It's never good for a young team to go a week without practicing when what these girls need the most is repetition and court time.”

The Arrows had 5 players in the scoring column which is a positive for this young group of girls: Celi Nelson, the Arrows lone senior, finished her last home game with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assist. BrookeLinn Finkelson has improved so much and is becoming a great all- around player with 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Her little sister Chloe Finkelson led the team with 10 rebound, 2 points, and 2 assists.

“As an 8th grader Chloe has really improved and with time in the weight room and work on her low post moves she is going to be a force for the Arrows in the paint,” said Coach Johnson. “Marisa Ludwig continues to make noise on the offensive end, Ludwig had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 steal. Quynn Behrens, Ashley Paulson and Lucy Ohren continue to provide the Arrows with valuable minutes whenever needed.”

The Lady Arrows travel to Evansville on Friday to play their last regular season game. South Section 6A Play-offs begin on Monday.
