The Underwood girls’ basketball team scored 30 points in each half on Wednesday night in a 60-44 victory over the Henning Hornets. Underwood made 43% (25-58) of their field goal attempts, hit 4-of-10 (40%) from 3-point range and made half of their free throws (6-12).
“Coming off the layoff since last practicing 5 days ago, I really didn’t know what to expect,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland. “I thought we played really well defensively and Kallyn Grove did a really nice job of getting open looks, attacking the basket especially in the second half when she scored 11 of her team high 17 points.”
Grove added 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Mia Blaskowski had 15 points and 6 rebounds, Liz Lukken finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, and Ezrah Baker contributed 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Lyvia Misegades led Henning with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Faith Fisher added 11 points.
“No rest, as we added a road game with MACCRAY on Thursday night and will finish out the regular season at New York Mills on Friday,” reported Coach Hovland.
Underwood improved to 18-3 on the season.
Henning (15-9) will play home games on Thursday against Bertha-Hewitt and on Friday against Parkers Prairie.
