A strong offensive night from Owen Buehler led Battle Lake past the Underwood Rockets as he scored a game high 23 points, 17 of those coming in the 2nd half.   The Battlers recorded a 71-49 victory over the Rockets.  The Battlers went into the locker room with a slim 29-28 lead.

“The Rockets did a great job attacking our defense in the half court in the first half,” said Battle Lake Head Coach Randy Dorn. “We didn’t move our feet well which led to good looks for the Rockets. Kaleb Hammes had a really nice first half for the Rockets scoring 12 of his 15 points in that half.  Mason Dalluge had another big night on the boards and contesting shots. He brings us great effort and energy!”

Jack Mekalson and Drew Johnson joined Buehler in double figures with 17 and 14 points, respectively.

Underwood was led by Kaleb Hammes with 15 points.  Cole Peterson added 13 points and 9 rebounds and eighth-grader Drew Evavold had 7 points and 6 rebounds.  Freshman Owen Harig chipped in with 6 points.

“We played an excellent first half defensively, and rebounded well,” reported Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. “In the second half, our defensive communication broke down, which led to a breakdown in our rebounding on the defensive end.  We continue to improve, and the guys just keep fighting each day.”

The Battlers will host Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Thursday and Park Christian School on Friday.

Underwood will host Lake Park-Audubon on Thursday and will play host to Hillcrest in a LEC battle on Friday.
