“We had a slow start tonight and the Chargers came out to play,” noted Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso. “At the half we had a 32-26 lead, but came out in the second half and started to find a rhythm.”
Grace VanErp led the Battlers in scoring 19 points and Ady Tysdal was right behind her with 18. Morgan Malone sat quite a bit with foul trouble, but still was able to record 14 points.
“I thought the girls really came out of the half and stepped up their defense and that was really the difference,” added Coach Marso.
Brandon-Evansville was led by 11 points from Olivia Otto. EmmaLee Brethorst and Kylee Dingwall added 8 points each.
“Hats off to Battle Lake tonight as they played a great game,” commented B-E Head Coach Zach Traphagen. “We kept it competitive for the first half and half of the second, but they went on a big run midway through the second half and we couldn’t overcome that. They made a flurry of threes during that run, and we didn’t do a great job of defending it. We can’t expect to beat anyone when we give up 73 points.”
Battle Lake (13-5) is at Underwood for a conference game on Tuesday night.
Brandon-Evansville (8-8) will host Ortonville on Saturday at 1:30pm.
