Underwood built a 32-10 halftime lead on the way to a 60-34 Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball victory over Brandon-Evansville on Friday night.

“I thought we played really well in the first half.  The game was a lot like our first meeting as they came out hot at the half and cut the lead to 12,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “Brandon plays hard and they are well-coached.  Our post play off the bench from Mia Blaskowski (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Zoey Swanson (9 points, 7 rebounds) was a big boost and helped us build a nice second half lead.”

Mo Bugbee added 13 points and 8 rebounds, Liz Lukken contributed 12 points and Ezrah Baker came through with 7 points, 5 assists and 4 steals.

“Underwood is a really good team, so we knew we would have to play our best basketball to compete with them,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zach Traphagen. “Unfortunately, we had a lull in the first half which caused us to fall behind big. Positive takeaway was the fight we came out with in the second half, we were able to get it down to an 11 point game with about 10 minutes to play. We will get back to work on Monday, and continue to push forward and get better.”

The Chargers were led by Kylee Dingwall with 11 points and 3 steals.  Olivia Otto added 8 points and 3 rebounds.  Kaytlyn Pattrin had a team high 3 assists and added 4 points.  B-E shot 37% (14-37) from the field.

Underwood (13-2) will host Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Monday night and Pelican Rapids on Tuesday night before going to Ashby for a LEC road game on Thursday.

Brandon-Evansville (8-7) will travel to Battle Lake on Thursday for a Little Eight Conference matchup.
