The Rothsay boys’ basketball team hosted Little Eight Conference rival, Underwood Friday night.  After a tight first half and Rothsay leading 30-23 going in to halftime, Rothsay took more control throughout the second half finishing with a 73-53 victory.

"We did not match Underwood’s effort and intensity the first half of the game,” stated Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “They have some talented younger players and really made some shots in the first half.  However, I thought we came out in the second half and established what we wanted to do a little more and extended our lead."

Rothsay was led by Tanner Heier with 25 and Jett Kulack with 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Sam Danielson contributed 11 and Matt Danielson 9.

Freshmen Evan Lindgren and Hudson Risbrudt had 17 and 10 points, respectively, and Cole Peterson added 11 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Rockets.

“We played well tonight in the defensive end,” commented Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. “We struggled to score in stretches tonight which put us in a bit of a hole in the second half. But the guys didn’t give up and continue to improve.”

The Tigers (5-10) will play another Little Eight Conference game Monday night in Battle Lake.

Underwood (2-13) will face Parkers Prairie in a LEC road contest on Monday.
