Rocori Tops Fergus Falls in Overtime for First Win

The Rocori Spartans picked up their first win of the season on Friday night, coming back from a 24-16 halftime deficit to defeat the Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team, 63-61 in overtime.

Rocori battled back from a six point deficit with two minutes to play, taking a 53-51 lead on an Andy Pedroza 3-point field goal with 6.5 seconds left in regulation.  Elliot Pribbenow drove to the basket and put up a shot that missed, however, Luke Newman grabbed the offensive rebound and scored the tying basket to force overtime.  Rocori led throughout the extra period, hitting 6-of-9 free throws.  The Otters struggled on the free throw line, making only 3-of-11 in the game.

The Otters were led by Kaden Conklin with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.  Pribbenow added 14 points and 6 rebounds, Newman had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, and Henry Bethel finished with 12 points and 6 boards.

Jack Boos and Jack Spanier led Rocori with 16 and 12 points, respectively.  Beck Loesch had 10 points and 8 rebounds and Evan Acheson secured 8 boards for the Spartans.

Fergus Falls lost the JV game, 55-46.

The Otters will host Brainerd in another Central Lakes Conference contest on Tuesday night.
