The Underwood girls’ basketball team made it four straight wins to begin the season when they defeated Brandon-Evansvlle 63-44 on Friday night.  The Rockets led 36-25 at halftime.

“We got off to a fast start going up 10-0,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “The Chargers did some really nice things offensively and we did not do a very good job of taking away the easy ones.  You gotta hand it to them as they did everything that they needed to.”

Liz Lukken poured in 26 points to lead the Rockets.  She also had 4 steals and a pair of assists.  Mo Bugbee joined Lukken in double figures with 10 points and pulled down 4 rebounds.  Alayna Evavold and Kallyn Grove each scored 7 points and Ezrah Baker contributed 6 points, 7 steals and 4 assists.

“As a team we shot the ball really well, 28-of-46 from the field,” said Hovland. “Liz had a monster game offensively, making 12-of-17 shots from the field.”

Underwood will host Ashby on Tuesday and play at Breckenridge on Thursday.

Sydney Schaefer led B-E with 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting.  Olivia Otto added 10 points and 3 assists.  Kylee Dingwall had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 deflections and 2 steals.

“We are extremely proud of the effort and toughness our girls played with tonight,” said B-E Head Coach Zachary Traphagen.  “Underwood has a fantastic team and we wanted to really focus on the things we could control tonight.  The girls played with no fear, played together, and gave it everything they had.  If we can continue to give the same kind of effort on a nightly basis, this team is going to just continue getting better.”

The Chargers will host Battle Lake on Tuesday and travel to Graceville on Thursday to face CGB.
