Otter Boys Overcome 14 Point Halftime Deficit to Beat Apollo by 4

The Fergus Falls boys' basketball team fell behind by fourteen points at halftime on Thursday night, however, they were able to fight back strong for a 61-57 win over St. Cloud Apollo, holding the Eagles to just 21 second half points, while scoring 39 over the last 18 minutes.

Apollo scored the first 9 points of the night, however, the Otters battled back to gain a 15-14 lead before the Eagles went on a 13 point run to take a 27-15 lead.  They increased the lead to 14 points by halftime.

Fergus Falls came out strong in the second half, scoring the first six points of the half and finally pulling even with Apollo at 54-54.  A pair of free throws by Kaden Conklin with 2:34 left in the game gave the Otters a 56-54 lead and they were able to hold on for their second straight win to start the season.  Conklin scored 16 of his team high 21 points in the second half.  He also led the team with 5 assists and grabbed 4 rebounds.  Luke Newman added 14 points and 7 rebounds, Elliot Pribbenow finished with 11 points and 4 assists, Henry Bethel came off the bench with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists, and Jaydon Manteufel contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Thomas Diew led Apollo with 30 points, including 10-of-13 from the free throw line.  Azayah Washington was also in double figures with 15 points.

Fergus Falls will host Sartell on Tuesday night at 6:00pm prior to the Otter girls' game with Perham.
