The Ashby Arrows are still looking for their first win of the season and the Swanville Bulldogs weren't having any part of it. Ashby lost to Swanville 73-46 on Tuesday night with Swanville leading 29-16 at the half.

“Swanville has a young team,” stated Ashby Head Coach Brenda Johnson. “They have a good inside outside game, and are very well coached. Our team is very young and playing games against good competition is only going to make us better.”

The Arrows saw 6 different players contribute to the scoring column. Ashley Paulson, a sophomore, had all her points in the second half and gave the Arrows some good energy and confidence when she started sinking shots from the outside. Ivy Aufdenkamp came off the bench and grabbed 5 boards and had 6 points. “Ivy isn't afraid to get in the middle of a scramble for the loose ball and battle on the boards,” said Johnson. “Our 8th grader Chloe Fnkelson, who had a lot of responsibility thrust on her because older sister BrookeLinn, got in foul trouble in the first half, ended the game with 4 points and 6 boards. BrookeLinn had 3 boards and 3 points. Celi Nelson, our floor general, ended the night with 22 points, 3 steals, and 5 rebounds.  We are still trying to get a flow to our offense and making the right pass instead of the desperation pass. Our bench is young, but they are ready to get in the game and work hard and that's what this team is all about. The turnover and assist columns are places where we need to see improvement. When we start doing a better job of finding the open player and getting open these two stats will hopefully improve.”

The Arrows are 0-3 and will play LPGE on Friday.
